Yes plays in Brazil this week
In an interview with Wikimetal this week, Yes bassist Chris Squire said that the band was responsible for inventing Progressive Rock.
Recalling the band's early history, Squire spoke about the formation of Yes's members, explaining that the instrumentalists had different musical backgrounds. The combination of all styles, from classical music to jazz and rock, resulted in the unique sound created by the band, and in Squire's opinion, the invention of Progressive Rock.
The bassist co-founded the band with vocalist Jon Anderson in 1968, and is the only member of Yes to have participated in the recording of all their albums.
Yes will be in São Paulo on May 23rd and 24th, in Rio de Janeiro on the 25th, and will play in Porto Alegre on the 26th. The band said the setlist will be the same as the one played on the US tour, with three albums performed in their entirety: Close To The Edge, Going For The One, and The Yes Album. Squire says: “Fans will get a glimpse into the history of Yes, from 1970 onwards. We are eager to play.”
